Продолжение проекта - самодельные фильтры для воздухозаборников (дальше пишу по-английски, по картинкам там все и так понятно).
I decided to put filters in front of return air ducts to prevent the dust collection inside of the duct system. Initially I wanted to purchase filters from the store, but later on, when I calculated, how much this will cost annually, I decided to DIY again and create custom-made filters for my air ducts.
First, choosing the filtering element was pretty easy - the widely used paper towers, spliced in half, will serve the purpose of keeping dust away. I've used them a lot for other needs, they are pretty cheap and can be changed every 2 weeks, if I wanted to.
Second, I needed something to hold the filter elements in place, to prevent pulling them inside of the duct system. I decided to use the set of components, intended for door/window screens with the aluminum net.
I bought the stuff from Home Depot (for about $30 total), measured return ducts and started assembling them:
Drilled holes in plastic corners and attached filters to the return by 4 small screws:
The last one was round and a bit tricky, but I managed to use the round 6" clamp to keep the net on.
The only payback is the extra "white" noise, coming from the returns, but it's located in hallways and not too loud, so we can certainly live with it.
